So, I've found this clip of an African Singer that is bleaching her skin because she want's to "Be White"! Christina Aguilera white to be specific. She has done the whole nine, breast augmentation and other plastic surgeries to alter her body. Now she is preparing to get plastic surgery to reach her ultimate goal, Christina Aguilera white. She has already been bleaching her skin, and is now considerably lighter than she once was.
I am just in AWE!!! I know that this goes on in the African American Community, just as much as tanning does. However, I just don't understand it! It is a shame that these people feel that they have to alter themselves to be happy. I mean I really don't understand what you are gaining out of the situation. With that white skin comes so many side effects it's ridiculous. You're going to be white, but confined to the house so no one will really see you anyway...I'm just saying.

Lawdamercy. I wrote a post on this a couple months ago (http://socamom.com/soca/en/de-gyal-dem/97-pretty-brown-girl.html) when Sammy Sosa did it, since then a reggae artist - Vybz Cartel is doing it too! I went into the "beauty" store and saw several shelves dedicated to skin lightening creams. And the names - "Fair & White" - are you kidding me? I didn't know about this stuff growing up, but it seems like the old "white is right" mentality dies hard, and money and acceptance by the world is still not enough to make you accept what you see in the mirror...
